Hay & Kilner presented with Corporate Partner trophy after raising more than £10,000 for GNAAS

We recently had the pleasure of presenting Hay & Kilner with their Corporate Partner trophy in recognition of raising more than £10,000 for our charity.

Hay & Kilner is one of the region’s leading full-service law firms and provides comprehensive legal advice to businesses and individuals from both within and outside the region.

At the end of 2023, members of the Newcastle-headquartered firm voted GNAAS as their chosen charity for 2024 and carried out a wide range of individual and team-based activities during the year to raise money and also awareness of our charity.

They kickstarted their fundraising early with crafty colleagues Kath Chismond and Lynn Liddle knitting and crocheting over 100 Christmas decorations, trees, snowmen and snowballs which all sold out in under a day and raised £400.

The firm also donated Newcastle Theatre Royal tickets for our online advent calendar, which gave away free prizes in the lead up to Christmas Day, that were all kindly provided by a range of regional businesses.

Over the course of 2024, colleagues took part in a bake off, the Great North Run, wine tasting, raffles and monthly dress down days.

One of the fundraising highlights was in April last year, when ten members of the team challenged themselves to undertake a 20-mile night walk from the firm’s offices at The Lumen in Newcastle to Wylam in Northumberland and back.

In total Hay & Kilner raised £10,601.23 for GNAAS and in recognition of their fundraising efforts they were awarded Corporate Partner status and proudly have their logo displayed on the back of one of our rapid response vehicles for a year.

Bethany Herbertson, Associate in the Dispute Resolution team and Chair of Hay & Kilner’s CSR committee, said: “We had a packed calendar of fundraising events last year and with so many people from across the practice getting involved, it’s been another great team effort. The continued involvement and generosity of everyone in the firm, allows us to support great causes year after year, and contribute positively to our local community. It was fantastic to finish the year by donating £10,000 to GNAAS, and we are thrilled to contribute to their work and the people they support with this vital service.’’
